Aurélia's World

Time just flies by - 9 months after starting her life journey, Aurélia already leaves her parents for one hour at the time to go to Daycare! Her Mom had tears in her eyes when she dropped her at "Maryse's" in Dorval. Mausi did a bit of a face at first but adapted quickly to her new playground outside of home. She didn't seem to be bothered by the company of the other 8 kids and quickly shifted her attention to the numerous new toys. After one hour had passed, Mommy returned to pick her up and guess what - our girl almost didn't want to leave anymore :-)

Aurélia not only grabs food on her own now - she can now actually crush it too! One lonely tooth seems to have made it trough her lower gum and is being accompanied by red cheeks and fussiness.

After recovering from the long trip and getting used to a time difference of 6 hours, Aurélia seemed to enjoy the company of Opa Klaus and Oma Ingrid. She loved her German car seat, it finally allowed her to sit facing forward so she could see all the action outside while being driven arround by Opa Klaus. There was a lot of snowing going on in Deutschland and the cold felt a bit different too - but Mausi was well prepared with hat and mittens.

One day, Onkel Joerg picked up everyone and Aurélia even got on a trip to a public spa in Dresden!Besides that, Mausi visited the recently completed Frauenkirche, the Bugacenter, different coffee-places, Real, the Altmarkt-Gallery, a Chinese restaurant with a lot of smoking Germans in there and Papa's Grossmutter in a resident's home. There were 4 generations of Dimters/Richters! Pretty amazing!!!

After 7 great days in Freital, it was time to fly back home - but not before Daddy had installed a computer for Oma and Opa. Now they can see Mausi whenever they want on the webcam!

Before crossing the ocean back to Cananda, Mausi met Mami's best friend from Air France, Annie and her husband Bjoern at Frankfurt Airport! They have a little girl of their own and Mausi cant' wait to play with the little Estelle one day!

After spending her "entire life" in Canada and Florida, we decided it was time for Mausi to crank it up a notch - Germany was the next target!

With her parents serving as travel companions, food suppliers and stroller-carriers, Aurélia borded the plain from Montreal to Frankfurt on the 25 of December at 6.15 pm. The same night, she got acquainted with her first Russian - drunk Russian, that is. He happened to delay the take-off due to his blood level of Vodka and the sudden urge of having to go to the bathroom right during the take-off. That granted him a spot outside the plane with the effect of a 2-hour-delay for everyone.

Despite the hold-up, Mausi and parents made it safe and sound to Frankfurt with a connecting flight to Dresden where everybody was picked up by Grossmutter und Grossvater in a brandnew "Peugeot Partner" with a brandnew car seat for Aurélia! This was the first time that her Grandparents in Germany got to see their Granddaughter!

The kid talks! we got a bit scared of Mausi falling behind schedule - according to some articles on baby-development, she should be talking by now. And guess what - there it is! Slowly but surly, from the "Uiii" to the "Blablabla". A small step for the rest of the world but definately a big one for us! Welcome to the world of cellphones, chatrooms and tape recorders. And to French, German, English and all the other confusing languages ;-)

And by the way: Mausi likes to show off her new "Get-up, Stand-up" skills to Daddy!

Mausi's first Halloween! First, Aurélia went to see Daddy at work and later in the afternoon, she took a small tour around the house to see Steve and Chris from upstairs for a "trick or treat"!

After 4 months of stressful life as a baby, Aurélia got a break from that whole thing and went to Florida! Being there for the second time already, relaxing all day long didn't seem so hard after all...
One magnificent event should be pointed out though: Mausi had her first cereal and therefore, her first meal!!! She wasn't too sure about it at first, but after adding some milk to the mix - she couldn't get enough anymore!
Also, she went to Disneyworld, saw the Manitees and got her first Mickey Mouse!

Aurélia was baptised on July 17th, 2005 at 15:30 at the Eglise Saints-Anges in Lachine.She looked very pretty in her long white dress that her Grand-Papa and her Mommy had also worn for their baptisms. Aurélia was very sweet and did not cry once!! It was very hot in the church, and so she slept while the priest Bernard Vadnais baptised her.
Her God-Mother is Tante Sophie and her God-Father is Uncle Luc. After, their was a nice little party at home with friends and family. Aurélia got spoiled with a whole bunch of interesting gadgets. What a great day!

I’ts official – our girl smiles! This morning, she gave us the cutest face ever! In a good mood at this time of the day – who does she take after? ;-)

Our girl seems to be noticing more of what’s going on around her. She follows movements and turns her head as she observes. Her hair seems to have grown noticeably longer as well.

Well, not exactly, but – its’ been one month already since our baby-girl was born! So, given an average life expectation of 80 years, you’ll have another 959 to come, little one! Don’t worry, we won’t celebrate every single one ;-)

Aurelia had her first encounter with a pacifier (Schnuller) today!
The ‘magic plug’ provides hours of tranquility for both, parents and toddler ;-)
We are using a Suce of the German brand ‘Nuk’, a gift from Grandma Ingrid.

Aurélia has lost her umbilical cord today! Her aunt “SoSo”Sophie was about to change her diaper when the little piece fell off! Our girl is now officially detached from her Mom’s body.

Our little baby girl has arrived! At 9:40 a.m. at Lakeshore Hospital, Pointe-Claire, Quebec. She weights 7.1 lbs (3200g) and measures 50cm at the time.
